Terms and Conditions of Land Languages Translation and Interpretation Services

 

1. About Land Languages

1.1   Land languages is a leading translation and interpretation company based in United Kingdom. With a team of skilled linguists and language experts, we offer professional language solutions to individuals and businesses worldwide.

1.2   Land Languages is proud to be an accredited member of The Association of Translation Companies (ATC), demonstrating our commitment to upholding the highest standards in the language services industry.

 

2. Application

2.1 These Terms and Conditions apply to all contracts and agreements for translation, interpretation and/or related services between Land languages and our clients unless otherwise agreed in writing or required by law.

2.2 By engaging our Services, the Client acknowledges having read, understood, and accepted these Terms and agrees to be bound by them.

 

3. Services

3.1 Acceptance of Services

3.1.1 Land Languages will provide the Client with a detailed project scope and estimated timeline for the Services.

3.1.2 The Client must confirm acceptance of the project scope and timeline in writing or via email before work commences.

3.1.3 Once the Client has accepted the project scope and timeline, any changes or additional work requested by the Client may be subject to additional charges.

 

3.2 Implementation and Basis of Services

3.2.1 Land Languages always endeavour to utilize qualified translators and interpreters to perform the Services according to industry standards.

3.2.2 Land Languages will make reasonable efforts to maintain consistency and accuracy in translation and interpretation services.

 

 

 

 

3.3 Delivery Process for Translation Services

Upon receiving a request for translation services, Land Languages will provide a detailed quotation within one working day. The quotation will include the scope of the project, pricing, and estimated delivery timeline.

3.3.2 Draft Translation Delivery

After the Client's acceptance of the quotation and confirmation of the project Land Languages will commence work on the translation. A draft version of the translation will be delivered to the Client within five working days from the project start date.

3.3.3 Client Review and Amendments

The Client is encouraged to review the draft translation thoroughly to ensure accuracy and address any specific requirements. Upon receiving the draft translation, the Client shall review the content and provide any necessary amendments or edits. The Client's timely response is crucial to maintain the project schedule and ensure a smooth finalization process.

3.3.4 Final and Certified Translation

After receiving the Client's amendments or edits, Land Languages will incorporate the changes and finalize the translation. The final and certified translation, ready for official use if required, will be delivered to the Client within three working days from the receipt of the Client's amendments. The certified translation will include a signed certificate of authenticity, if applicable, affirming the accuracy and completeness of the translation.

 

3.3.5 Client Approval

The Client shall thoroughly review the final translation upon delivery and notify Land Languages of any outstanding issues or concerns promptly. In the absence of any objections or concerns within 10 workings days from the final delivery date, the Client's approval of the translation will be assumed.

 

3.3.6 Additional Services

If the Client requires additional services, such as notarization or specific formatting, Land Languages will provide these services as agreed upon and within a reasonable timeframe. However, Additional fees may apply for these supplementary services, and they will be detailed in the initial quotation.

 

 

 

3.4 Delivery of Interpretation Services

3.4.1 Interpretation services provided by Land Languages can be delivered in various formats, including conference interpretation and face-to-face attendance. We pride ourselves on offering flexible and professional interpretation solutions tailored to our clients' specific needs.

3.4.2 Conference Interpretation

3.4.2.1 Simultaneous Interpretation: In conference settings, simultaneous interpretation is often employed. Our skilled interpreters work from soundproof booths, listening to the speaker through headphones and providing real-time interpretation to the target audience. Attendees receive the interpretation through wireless headsets, ensuring seamless multilingual communication.

3.4.2.2 Consecutive Interpretation: For smaller meetings or interactive sessions, consecutive interpretation is used. Our interpreters take notes while the speaker talks and deliver the interpretation during suitable pauses. This method allows for a more intimate setting and is well-suited for discussions and Q&A sessions.

3.4.3 Face-to-Face Attendance

3.4.3.1 On-Site Interpretation: Land Languages offers on-site interpretation services for various events, including business meetings, training sessions, legal proceedings, and medical consultations. Our professional interpreters will be physically present to facilitate effective communication between parties speaking different languages.

3.4.3.2 Telephonic Interpretation: In situations where physical presence is not possible, we also provide telephonic interpretation services. Clients can connect with our skilled interpreters via phone, allowing for immediate language support in real-time conversations.

 

3.5 Delay in Delivery

3.4.1 by Land Languages will promptly notify the Client in case of any unforeseen delays in the delivery of Services.

3.4.2 Land Languages shall not be liable for any losses or damages resulting from reasonable delays beyond its control.

 

3.6 Liability for Fault or Defect in Services

3.6.1 If the Client identifies any fault or defect in the Services delivered, they must notify Land Languages within ten days of receipt.

3.6.2 Land Languages will review the identified issues and, if deemed valid, correct any errors in a timely manner at no additional cost to the Client.

 

3.7 Confidentiality

3.7.1 Land Languages and its translators/interpreters shall treat all information received from the Client as strictly confidential.

3.6.2 Land Languages will take appropriate measures to protect the confidentiality of the Client's information.

 

3.8 Ownership and Right of Use of Services

3.8.1 Upon full payment for the Services, the Client shall obtain ownership of the final translated documents or interpretation records.

3.8.2 Land Languages retains the right to showcase the completed work as part of its portfolio, without disclosing any sensitive or confidential information.

 

4. Prices of Services

4.1 The prices for translation and interpretation services will be provided to the Client in the project scope or service agreement.

4.2 Prices may vary based on the complexity, volume, and urgency of the Services required.

 

5. Terms of Payment

 

5.1 For Legal Aid Board Clients:

5.1.1 Interpretation Payments:

For Legal Aid Board (Scottish Legal Aid Board) Clients, the payment terms for interpretation services are as follows:

Payment is due within six weeks from the final delivery of the interpretation services.

5.1.2 Translation Payments:

For Legal Aid Board Clients, the payment terms for translation services depend on the value of the project:

For translation work with a value under £100, payment should be made within 12 weeks from the final delivery of the translation services.

For translation work with a value over £100, payment should be made within 8 weeks from the final delivery of the translation services.

 

 

 

5.2 For Other Clients:

5.2.1 Interpretation Payments:

For all other clients not falling under the SLAB category, the payment terms for interpretation services are as follows:

Payment is due within 4 weeks from the final delivery of the interpretation services.

5.2.2 Translation Payments:

For all other clients not falling under the SLAB category, the payment terms for translation services are as follows:

Payment is due within 4 weeks from the final delivery of the translation services.

 

6. Overdue Payment

6.1 In case of overdue payments, Land Languages reserves the right to suspend or terminate Services until payment is made in full.

6.2 The Client shall be responsible for any additional costs or fees incurred due to late payments.

7. Limited Liability

7.1 Land Languages shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the Services.

7.2 Land Languages’s liability for any direct damages shall be limited to the total fees paid by the Client for the specific project.

 

8. Personal Data

8.1 Processing of Personal Data

8.1.1 The Client acknowledges that may process personal data as required to perform the Services.

8.1.2 Land Languages shall comply with all applicable data protection laws and regulations in the processing of personal data.

 

8.2 Anonymisation

8.2.1 Land Languages may anonymize and aggregate data for statistical and research purposes, ensuring no personally identifiable information is disclosed.

 

8.3 Storage

 

8.3.1 Land Languages will retain personal data for the duration necessary to fulfill the Services or as required by law.

 

8.4 Ownership

8.4.1 The ownership of all personal data provided by the Client remains with the Client.

 

8.5 Deletion

8.5.1 Upon request, Land Languages will securely delete or return personal data to the Client after the Services are completed.

8.6 Governing Law and Court

8.6.1 These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of Scotland.

8.6.2 Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Scotland.

 

These terms and conditions constitute the entire agreement between Land Languages and the Client regarding the provision of translation, interpretation and/or other related services. By engaging our Services, the Client agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
